Course Description

This course is offered as one of the courses under the Required Physical Education Programme. This course aims at developing students’ fundamental skills of badminton needed for life long participation in the sport. Contents include: services, overhand shots, underhand shots, forehand shots, backhand shots, footwork, rules and tactics of the sport, nurturing positive attitudes and values toward sports participation, etc.


Course Syllabus

  1. History of badminton and introduction of badminton court and equipment
  2. Warm-up exercise and grips
  3. Footwork (backward, hit and forward)
  4. Basic serves (high serve and short serve)
  5. Overhead strokes (forehand clear, smash and drop shot)
  6. Underarm strokes (forehand and backhand lops)
  7. Front court strokes (forehand and backhand net shot), push and receive of serve
  8. Introduction of rules and scoring for both Single and Double competition
  9. Tactics for both Single and Double competition

Assessment

Physical Skill Tests 60% (Login to access the course note, exam standard and video demonstration)

Written Examination 20%

Attendence and Participation 20%

Course Description

This course is offered as one of the courses under the Required Physical Education Programme.  It aims at increasing students’ knowledge of swimming and providing choices for physical activities participation.  Contents include: freestyle and breaststroke swimming skills, water safety and basic rules of swimming competition, nurturing positive attitudes and values toward sports participation, etc.


Course Syllabus

  1. History of swimming
  2. Introduction of water safety and personal hygiene
  3. Basic rules of swimming competition
  4. Basic skills of freestyle (Arms and legs actions, coordination of arms, legs and breathing for the whole style)
  5. Basic skills of breaststroke (Arms and legs actions, coordination of arms, legs and breathing for the whole style)
  6. Basic skills of water treading

Assessment

Written Examination 20%

Course Description

This course is offered as one of the courses under the Required Physical Education Programme. It aims at developing students’ fundamental skills of track and field, arousing students’ interests towards athletics and nurturing initiative of physical activities which are needed for life long participation in the sports activities. Content include: techniques, postures and rules of running, jumping and throwing events, nurturing positive attitudes and values toward sports participation, etc..


Course Syllabus

  1. General sports knowledge and safety of track and field events
  2. Basic skills of sprint ( start, acceleration and finish techniques)
  3. Basic skills of shot put ( shot from a standing position facing forward, sideway and using the glide technique)
  4. Basic skills of long jump (arm and leg actions of the hang technique in the aerial phase and landing phase)
  5. Basic skills of javelin (methods of gripping the javelin and the release of the throw)
  6. Introduction and practice of high jump and hurdles

Assessment

Written Examination 20%

Contents include: services, upper hand passes, underhand passes, blockings, jump spikes, rules and tactics of the game, nurturing positive attitudes and values toward sports participation, etc.

  1. History of volleyball and introduction of volleyball court, equipment and safety
  2. Volleyball passing skills (overhand and underhand)
  3. Volleyball serving skills (overhand and underhand)
  4. Serve receiving skills
  5. Digging, spiking and blocking skills
  6. Basic footwork
  7. Introduction of players' positions and their duties
  8. Introduction of refereeing, rules and scoring
  9. Introduction of volleyball offensive and defensive strategies and different formations

Assessment
