Course Description

This course is offered as one of the courses under the Required Physical Education Programme. This course aims at developing students’ fundamental skills of Tennis needed for life long recreational activities. Contents include basic services, forehand and backhand groundstrokes, net plays, footwork, rules and tactics of singles and doubles matches, nurturing positive attitudes and values toward sports participation, etc.


Course Syllabus

  1. History of tennis, introduction of tennis court, equipment, sportswear and safety rules
  2. The situation of local and international tennis events
  3. Tennis sports specific warm-up exercise, grips and practice for ball sense
  4. Basic tennis footwork
  5. Forehand and backhand drive
  6. Basin tennis serve technique
  7. Forehand and backhand volley
  8. Return of serve
  9. Introduction of basic rules and scoring for both Single and Double competition
  10. Basic tactics for both Single and Double competition

Assessment

Physical Skill Tests 60% (Login to access the course note, exam standard and video demonstration)

Written Examination 20%

Attendence and Participation 20%

Course Description

This course is offered as one of the courses under the Required Physical Education Programme. This course aims at developing students’ fundamental skills of woodball needed for life long participation in the sport. Contents include: shooting, half swing, full swing, tactics and rules of the game, etc.

Course Description

This course is offered as one of the courses under the Required Physical Education Programme. It aims at developing students’ fundamental skills of track and field, arousing students’ interests towards athletics and nurturing initiative of physical activities which are needed for life long participation in the sports activities. Content include: techniques, postures and rules of running, jumping and throwing events, nurturing positive attitudes and values toward sports participation, etc..


Course Syllabus

  1. General sports knowledge and safety of track and field events
  2. Basic skills of sprint ( start, acceleration and finish techniques)
  3. Basic skills of shot put ( shot from a standing position facing forward, sideway and using the glide technique)
  4. Basic skills of long jump (arm and leg actions of the hang technique in the aerial phase and landing phase)
  5. Basic skills of javelin (methods of gripping the javelin and the release of the throw)
  6. Introduction and practice of high jump and hurdles

Assessment

Course Description

This course is offered as one of the courses under the Required Physical Education Programme. It aims at developing students’ knowledge, basic skills, Poomsae and self-defence techniques for Taekwondo. Practicing taekwondo can help students to achieve physical fitness (including flexibility, muscular strength, balance, etc), and protect themselves from various dangerous situations. Moreover, this course will encourage students to have lifelong participation in taekwondo. Contents of the course include: basic technique of taekwondo, etiquette of taekwondo, taekwondo related fitness and rules of taekwondo competition, etc.

12. Introduction of Poomsae 'Pattern I'
