Course Description

This course is offered as one of the courses under the Core Physical Education Programme. It aims at developing student’s knowledge and basic skills of yoga for physical activities participation. Practicing yoga can help students to train their mind (including concentration and relaxation) and achieve physical fitness (including flexibility and muscular strength). Moreover, students can practice yoga as a life time sport.

Contents of the course include: basic asana of yoga, benefits of practicing yoga, yoga related fitness and establishing a positive attitude towards sports participation, etc.

Course Description

This course is offered as one of the courses under the ElectivePhysical Education Programme. It aims at developing student’s knowledge and basic skills ofcycling for physical activities participation. Cycling can help students to train their coordination and achieve physical fitness.Moreover, this course will encourage students to have lifelong participation in cycling.

Contents of the course include: 1) basic skills of cycling including bicycle control, handling, turning, gear shifting, ascending and descending slopes2) cycling gears and equipment; 3) safety in cycling and 4) cycling fitness training

Course Description

This course is offered as one of the courses under the Required Physical Education Programme.  This course aims to develop students’ fundamental skills of Handball needed for life long participation in the sport.  Contents include: the basic skills of handball, the basic rules of handball, the basic knowledge of offensive and defensive strategies, nurturing positive attitudes and values toward sports participation.


Course Syllabus

  1. History of handball and introduction of handball court and equipment
  2. Basic footwork (Cross Step, Side Step and Slide Step)
  3. Ball holding and passing exercise
  4. Distance throw exercise
  5. Introduction of basic shooting skills (including penalty shot, left/right wing shot, centre shot, left/ right rotate shot and jump shot)
  6. Introduction and practice of angle-blocking and fast break by goalkeeper
  7. Introduction and practice of offense and defense tactics of handball

Assessment

Course Description

This course is offered as one of the courses under the Required Physical Education Programme.  This course aims to develop students’ fundamental skills of Soccer needed for life long participation in the sport.  Contents include: dribbling, passing, heading, shooting, goal keeping, defensive footwork, rules and tactics of the sport, nurturing positive attitudes and values toward sports participation, etc.


Course Syllabus

Soccer (Men)

1. History of football and introduction of football court and equipment

2. Common ways for soccer warm-up and ball sense practice

3. Basic soccer skills (including ball passing, trapping and controlling, dribbling, heading and shooting, etc.)

4. Defensive techniques ( defensive pressure and filling the space created by attackers)

5. Throw-in technique, corner kick and free kick techniques

6. Introduction of goalkeeping techniques and different players’ positions and roles

7. Introduction of soccer formations and tactics in different matches (5, 7 or 11-aside)

Soccer (Women)

1. History of football and introduction of football court and equipment

2. Common ways for soccer warm-up and ball sense practice
