Course Description

This course is offered as one of the courses under the ElectivePhysical Education Programme. It aims at developing student’s knowledge and basic skills ofcycling for physical activities participation. Cycling can help students to train their coordination and achieve physical fitness.Moreover, this course will encourage students to have lifelong participation in cycling.

Contents of the course include: 1) basic skills of cycling including bicycle control, handling, turning, gear shifting, ascending and descending slopes2) cycling gears and equipment; 3) safety in cycling and 4) cycling fitness training

1. Cycling history and development

2. Cycling equipment

3. Cycling rules and safety

4. Cycling stretching and warm-up exercises

5. Bike balance and coordination

6. Gear shifting, brakes control, ascending and descending slopes, turning

7. Indoor bike machine introduction

8. Cycling fitness training

9. Bike path introduction

10. Introduction of cycling competition

11. Introduction of cycling training program


Assessment

Physical Skill Tests 60% (Login to access the course note, exam standard and video demonstration)

Written Examination 20%

Attendence and Participation 20%
