Objectives

• To provide tertiary education to matriculated members of the Hong Kong National Squad and Youth Squad;
• To allow outstanding athletes better chances of entering CUHK;
• To recruit athletes with various strengths to the CUHK Sports Team;
• To foster all-round education by putting equal emphasis on academic training and physical development;
• To project an image of a health-promoting university;
• To have the University and its constituent colleges bound together by sports development as a common cause; and
• To enhance participation in and standards of sports on campus and to bolster the morale and team spirit of the CUHK Sports Team.

The Scholarship comprises an award of HK$10,000 to HK$ 50,000 and a guarantee of on-campus accommodation each year and is renewable (usually up to two years) base on annual assessment.

Conditions of Eligibility

In addition to fulfilling CUHK admission requirements, an eligible applicant must be:

• a present Hong Kong National Squad member; or
• a present Hong Kong Youth Squad member; or
• a former Hong Kong National Squad or Youth Squad member with outstanding results; or
• a player in local inter-school competitions.
• Local and overseas students with exceptionally brilliant sports achievement are also welcome to apply for the Scholarship.

In addition to following the admission procedures set by CUHK, all applicants must complete a self-recommendation form and be recommended by any of the following persons, programme or sports bodies:

• secondary school principals; or
• the Elite Training Programme of the Hong Kong Sports Development Board; or
• national sport associations such as Hong Kong Amateur Swimming Association.
